The Premier League

The Premier League is already keeping people on the edge of their seats with some nerve-wracking matches. The VAR has created trouble for some while lauding others.

Here’s a glimpse of the 5 biggest things that stood out in the league’s 12th week.

The defense that failed

Leicester City took this match week seriously to prove they won’t give up that easily, more so, they might emerge as one of the top 4s! The Foxes broke past Arsenal’s three-man central defensive partnership with ease, making them question their strong position in the league now.

The City has triumphed five times in a row. The match was stolen by stunning goals from Jamie Vardy and James Maddison, who secured a 2-0 win at the King Power Stadium.

A crisis like no other

Southampton and Norwich City seem to be struggling a lot this season.

In week 12, Norwich City went down 2-0 against Watford at Carrow Road. Gerard Deulofeu swept everyone away with the opening goal in the second minute of the game while Andre Gray doubled the celebration early in the second half. Norwich tried their best to come close when Kenny McLean powered a shot from the edge of the box which kept Foster from stopping beautifully. Yet it failed to break its losing streak.

This was Watford’s first win and move off the bottom of the table. This extended Norwich’s melancholic winless spell to nine matches out of twelve.

Southampton suffered a close defeat against Everton. Minutes after kick-off, Everton took the lead and struck a goal when Tom Davies made the better use of a corner kick to make it 0-1. Southampton gave a slow reply, equalizing the score when Sofiane Boufal stole the ball from Everton and sent it back to his counterpart Danny Ings. Seventy-fifth minute brought in Everton’s match-winning goal by Richarlison.

Sheffield stand United

The Sheffield-ers have been continuously striking and winning.

Managed by the fantastic Chris Wilder, this season has seen the team shine bright, securing 8 points from 6 games only drawing five and winning one. Continuing with this stellar pace, it is predicted that it could enter the top 10 by the end of the season.

The men of Liverpool conquered

The battleground at Anfield was rocked as Liverpool were ruled out against Manchester city with 3 goals in their pocket on Sunday. It was a good day for them, with some solid decisions of VAR favoring them, like when they failed to spot an offside during Liverpool’s second goal. It also saw past the ball that first bumped Bernardo Silva’s arm before hitting Alexander Arnold’s.

Then came the thunderbolt goal from Fabinho which stood intact by the VAR despite the protests by the City boys.

Chelsea Ahead

They are practically unstoppable! This season has witnessed another away from home performance from the club. They have already emerged victorious in five out of six games. Their latest win came after defeating Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge. They now stand third in the league table, only 8 points behind Liverpool. They are all set to play against Manchester City in an exciting game.

This tournament has its reputation of bringing forward some game-changing moments. Let’s see who takes the lead and wins the League!
